Program Overview

We believe that when a mother has access to job training and career opportunities, everything changes for her and her children. Our new initiative focuses on supporting single mothers as they pursue paths toward stability, independence, and lifelong success.

How it works

The MfM Workforce Development Grant supports single mothers with tuition aid and support with our partner institutions. Qualifying mothers who have complete applications will be reviewed holistically. Those that are selected for our Workforce Development Grant must attend at the agreed upon school/institution. Recipients may attend one of our partner institutions or another approved school that offers the program they wish to pursue, subject to Moms for Moms approval. Awards will be paid directly to schools or institutions. If selected for the grant, recipients will be required to meet for quarterly check-ins, sharing completion documentation (course and exam/certification), and sharing outcomes within 6 months of graduation.

What We Offer

We help remove the barriers that often prevent single mothers from pursuing education and employment. Our support may include:

  • Support for job-training and certification programs

  • Tuition support for vocational studies

  • Assistance with barrier-related costs such as exam fees and textbooks

  • Partnerships with local colleges, vocational programs, and community organizations

  • Referrals to workforce development and job-training resources across NYC

We meet moms where they are and help them get where they want to go.

Why This Matters

Mothers told us what they needed most:

“More programs that can help with job seeking”

One in three single-mother households in NYC lives below the poverty line. When mothers gain training, support, and career opportunities, their children experience better health, stability, and long-term success.

This program invests directly in breaking cycles and building futures.

How to Learn More

Everything is being designed with and for the moms we serve. We’re launching our first offerings in the fall of 2026.

A Foundation We’re Proud Of
